A boiler that is undersized, poorly tuned or badly maintained wastes fuel and can stop production. Common symptoms are trips, falling steam pressure, wet steam, high fuel use and frequent repairs.

A new boiler, a fuel change or an efficiency improvement only works when the boiler, burner, feedwater and steam distribution are treated as one system.

• Blowdown, flue gas path and stack
• Controls, safety valves and interlocks
• Statutory registration and inspection, which in Bangladesh are carried out by the Office of the Chief Inspector of Boilers

What to prepare before an assessment or quotation

• Boiler nameplate details: make, type, rated capacity, design pressure and year
• The fuel used today and monthly consumption
• The processes the steam serves, with running hours
• Recent inspection, efficiency test or flue gas analysis reports, if you have them
• How feedwater is treated and how much condensate returns
• Photographs of the boiler house and a short description of any current problem
